Citing is important because it grants credit to the people whose creativity and discovery have enhanced the writing we have created. Citations also give our blog some credibility as it shows we have done research and built upon valid arguments. We want you to know that we have not just made our information up. Hopefully, if our posts are interesting enough, the citations will also allow you to research the topics further on your own, as we give you some sources to start your exploration.
To cite our sources, we will provide a hyperlink to the original source in our post when credit is due. As not all of our sources allow for a direct hyperlink, we will use MLA style when the hyperlink is not available. With MLA, we will provide a parenthetical citation in the post which corresponds to the full citation at the bottom of the post. All sources used in a post, hyperlinked or used with MLA, will be referenced at the bottom of our posts. We decided to have two citation styles - hyperlinks and the MLA format for credibility, since we post a wide array of information - we don’t really have a set area that we think we’d like to work on, hence the term Undecided. The MLA format would allow us to cite sources towards the humanities and liberal arts categories. On the other hand, the hyperlinks allow for easy access to our web sources.
